Avila Beach Hotel
Preferred Partner of the month December

Our goal

Avila Beach Hotel believes that it is important that children (both locals and international tourists) grow up with sustainable values in a playful way. Everything we humans do affects the (underwater) world.

Therefore Avila Beach Hotel created 'the Nature Needs Superheroes educational activity' with
E Mucha (means 'The kid' in Papiamento) which is located on our premises. Together with Pedagogical Caregiver Laura Vernooijs, a child will investigate which Superpowers are needed to take care of nature (above and underwater) the best way possible. During the Nature Needs Superheroes activity kids will play games, craft and learn more about the beautiful underwater world on Curacao. Please click here for more information about Nature Needs Superheroes.

Why is Avila Beach Hotel partnering with Water Refill Program Curaçao?

Sustainability is something we gladly see more and more often in the travel industry. Hotels and travel agencies on Curacao are increasingly focusing on this important topic too. The Avila Beach Hotel as well, for many years. It’s the Water Refill Program Curacao’s mission is to reduce the use of single-use plastic water bottles in Curacao and support the community to work together for a sustainable island. Their mission matches exactly with Avila’s mission in creating a more sustainable island and ultimately better world.

Avila Beach Hotel sustainability policy

One of the goals of the Avila Beach Hotel is innovation & sustainability. We try to save energy and recycle as much as possible. We therefore earned the international "Travelife Gold Award" and also the local "Sustainable Innovation Award 2013", which was then awarded for the first time on Curacao by Business Platform Environment.

A higher efficiency is sought after in all business decisions. All opportunities for a better environment and both the well-being of its employees and the Curacao community are being fully exploited. Together we can create a better world, even on a small island such as Curacao.

Water Refill Program Curaçao and Avila Beach Hotel join forces to adopt a sustainble goal together

The 'Water Refill Program Curaçao' started out as a pilot in June 2019. During the lockdown, D-TAP by D-Bottle has converted their findings into a renewed policy. Through the 'Water Refill Program', there is a broader commitment to a more sustainable Curaçao, both short term and long term. The Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations became the compass of the program.

Core values of the program are:
1. Environmental protection

2. Social development

3. Economic Development

Based on these core values, 10 sustainability objectives have been set up. Avila Beach Hotel  is going to focus on two of these 10 sustainability goals, namely 'Life below water and Life on land'.
